End Polio Now

Charity Image

In 1985 when Rotary International started the fight to end polio there were 125 polio-endemic countries. Since the launch of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, led by Rotary and its partners- the World Health Organization, CDC, UNICEF, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation- polio cases have been reduced more than 99%.

In 2013, there were only 406 known cases worldwide. Today only three countries have never stopped transmission of the wild poliovirus: Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Every new dollar Rotary commits to polio eradication will be matched two-to-one by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation up to $35 million a year. Our donation of £60.40 helps End Polio Now initiation get closer to ridding the world of polio.

We recently held a Quiz night and rasied £500 for them which will go straight to help fighting Polio.
